Agency vs. Home Companion Services |
 |
Homemaker/Companion Services
Utilize employees or independent contractors to provide companionship and homemaker services. Performance of duties requiring the training and skills typical of Home Health Aides, and any other healthcare professionals is not permitted under this form of licensure.
Individuals can assist with meal preparation, household chores, errands, and companionship.
Duties do not include “hands on care”. Owners of this form of business may operate under either an Agency model or Registry model.
The difference between Homemaker/Companion Services and Home Health Care Agencies is that Agencies can provide all levels of care. Homemaker Companion Services are limited to non hands on services such as those described above. For example, Homemaker Companion Services are not licensed to provide personal care which includes bathing, dressing a client, assisting with toileting, etc.
